What is free and what is premium

One rule, so you always know what a child can learn without paying.

The rule

Everything in the K–12 curriculum is free. Premium is only what sits outside it.

Always free

Anything a school teaches from kindergarten through grade 12, however advanced it gets:

  • Math, from counting to statistics and calculus
  • Reading, writing and spelling
  • Science, history and social studies
  • Computer science, logic and puzzles
  • Art, music, health, study skills and the money basics schools cover
  • The arcade and game time that lessons earn

A hard lesson, or one for an older grade, is still free. If a school would teach it, it is free.

Premium: Gradeless Family

Things that go beyond school, for kids who want more and for the grown-ups around them:

  • Trades and vocational skills, such as electrical, plumbing, welding, carpentry and cooking
  • Career and professional skills
  • Hobbies and enrichment extras
  • Parenting guides and other grown-up resources

Premium is $5 a month and is bought by a grown-up. A child never sees a price, an offer or a locked lesson; premium lessons simply appear when a linked grown-up has subscribed. See Privacy for how subscriptions are handled.

Our promises

  • We won't move K–12 lessons behind a paywall.
  • Free lessons never depend on a premium one.
  • If we're unsure which side something falls on, it's free.
